Appointment of the Fund's new Chief Executive & Fund Secretary

Following my recent announcement about Stephen Field’s upcoming retirement, I’m delighted to announce that Martin Hunter has been appointed as Director of Pensions & Chief Executive of the TfL Pension Fund, following a competitive recruitment process.

Martin will have dual reporting to me and Fiona Brunskill Chief People Officer, TfL. He brings deep expertise in pensions strategy and senior leadership, having worked in the pension industry for more than 20 years.

Martin was previously Head of Integrated Funding at Railpen, where he led a team of actuaries and covenant advisers supporting the Trustee. Prior to this, Martin spent 16 years at Punter Southall (now XPS Pensions Group), where he was a Partner and corporate pensions adviser. More recently, following a career break, Martin has been a strategic advisor to the Pension Protection Fund.

Martin’s track record shows clear strength in strategic thinking, team leadership, and working with a broad range of stakeholders and I am delighted that we have secured someone of Martin’s calibre and experience

Martin will join us in mid-March 2026 to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities and I’m sure you’ll all join me in welcoming him and wishing him every success in his new role.
